Day Visit To A Cancer Clinic

Day Visit to Cancer Clinic
My dear friend is coming home today from a cancer clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. Lu was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer mid-August—a mere 6 weeks ago. After much prayer, looking for clarity and experiencing several clarifying signs, she decided to forego the chemo recommended and go to Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico.

I was thrilled!

I know from many people I have met, that going straight to a holistic treatment approach is the best possible scenario to heal the cancer. It is difficult to heal cancer after the body has been compromised via chemo, radiation and surgery. These treatments weaken the immune system and cause permanent damage. Weakening the immune system deals a blow to the body—you need a strong immune system. The body is created to heal itself given the right fuel and environment (diet, sleep, exercise and attitude).

Hope 4 Cancer is my suggestion to anyone looking to heal their cancer. I have met and listened to Dr. Tony Jimenez, MD, ND, CNC, Founder and Chief Medical Officer for Hope 4 Cancer. Check out his bio as well as other doctors at the clinic.

Before going on about my visit and what I learned at Hope 4 Cancer, I'll let you know that Lu experienced an improvement in her test numbers and a 66% reduction in the cancer mass after 3 weeks at the clinic.

My Adventure to Mexico
Turns out my schedule for last week took me to Anaheim. My husband was attending a conference there. When Lu signed up to go down to Mexico for treatment, I immediately began to plan a side trip to go visit her at the clinic. Despite being a bit hesitant to cross the border by myself, everything fell into place to make it happen.

I drove to San Diego from Anaheim and stayed with a friend who lives 3 miles from the border. On Thursday morning she dropped me off at the border pedestrian bridge. I walked across and met Lu's husband and the clinic driver at the other end of the bridge, then was transported to the clinic, which is across the street from the ocean and 1/4 mile from the border.

I got a quick tour of the facility then met up with Lu in her spacious room with ensuite bathroom in time for her next therapy. The Indiba machine is radio frequency-based. In general it accelerates healing and restores the body to health. It generates two different frequencies (one hot and one cold), which are administered one after the other. The hot frequency disrupts the cancer cell membrane (a cloaking mechanism that keeps the cancer cell from being identified by the immune system) and destroys (burns) it. The cold frequency penetrates the cancer cell and destroys it from the inside. This is serious "kick butt" therapy!

Scripture for Lu from a fellow patient.

A vision I had for Lu.

Lu had already done her Full Body Hyperthermia treatment (her least fav therapy) before I arrived. This therapy is nicknamed The Pizza Oven. Can you see why? It heats up to at most 104°F. The extreme heat kills cancer cells... and you sweat a lot, which becomes a good detox.

The next treatment was the Lumen Photon Therapy, used to excite an enzyme in the cell's mitochondria to increase natural healing energy.

And every day Lu saw the in-house therapist to help identify any issues that may be blockages to healing, such as childhood trauma, unforgiveness, anger, etc.

Dr. Tony's 7 Principles dictate the path to healing at the clinic. It's also the emphasis of his new book Hope for Cancer—available on the clinic website.

Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) treatment uses high pressure to increase the amount of oxygen a person can breathe, which puts more oxygen into the bloodstream. Cancer does not like oxygen—it grows in an anaerobic environment. One hour in the HBO capsule (See Lu waving from inside?) is another part of each patient's protocol.

I was able to do a few rounds of the Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF) machine—a device that sat outside Lu's room. Each round is only 3 minutes. By stimulating tissue at a cellular level, this machine is used to improve circulation and cell metabolism. PEMF reminded me of my TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) device at home, which I use to stimulate healing when I have tissue injuries. It makes my muscles twitch and jump.

I enjoyed lunch at the clinic. Wow! All organic and very fresh. Lunch was a piece of wild-caught salmon over a bed of perfectly cooked zucchini topped with a turmeric sauce. Plus I made a small salad at the salad bar (lettuces, sprouts, carrots, beets, peppers and pumpkin seeds).

Lu was finishing her IV Vitamin C drip (3 hours long) during lunch. She also did B17 drips.

I enjoyed a walk outside to the border where a really good band played—it appeared they were filming a music video. A small crowd gathered to enjoy the sounds.

For dinner Dave and I went down the street to the Huerto Urbano Kitchen—an all organic restaurant. I chose the portabella mushroom sandwich on gluten-free bread and a delicious shake with strawberries and cacao. Everything they serve is made fresh in the restaurant.

A few other therapies Lu did every day included:

  • Near Infrared Sauna for detoxing heavy metals, industrial chemicals and even chronic infections.
  • Coffee enemas to detox the liver and gall bladder so they can do a better job of removing additional toxins released from the body tissues during treatments.
  • Near Infrared Heat Lamp, which penetrates 3 inches into the body, heals hard to reach areas of viruses, bacteria, parasites and cancer cells.
  • Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT) works with a non-toxic sensitizer that adheres to the cancer cells thus allowing light and sound of selected wavelengths to instantly kill them.
I know she had a few other therapies selected specifically for her, many supplements that build the immune system and help kill the cancer cells, plus a personalized diet plan.

Once Lu is home, she will continue therapies she brought back with her. She will go back to the clinic periodically to adjust things and check progress of the healing for the next year.

I am certain that with God's grace and mercy and all the many people praying for her, she will be healed and enjoy a long life.

Have you experienced going to a clinic that offered non-toxic, non-harming healing therapies for yourself or a family/friend? Tell us about them.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Wishing you a Blessed and Merry Christmas. I am grateful for you and your interest in being a healthier self. Looking forward to 2016, let me know what health area you'd like to learn more about—thank you to those I've already heard from. It would be great to hear what you found helpful from Healthy Journey Cafe this past year (scroll past the Related Posts to add your comments).

I'll be taking a break until after the New Year. Enjoy your Christmas and New Year celebrations with family and friends. Remember to be grateful for the blessings you have and share with those in your community who have little.

I'm thankful for my family and the addition of a new daughter-in-law this past June. What a joy! But we also endured the loss of loved ones this year, leaving holes in our lives that are impossible to fill.

Never the less, we have hope because Christmas is about remembering that God became man in a humble stable in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago. The birth of Jesus marks God's long-planned and foretold redemption of man. Jesus Christ changed the course of history, but most importantly he changed my heart. The grace that God extended to me is available to all who desire His gift of eternal life. God only asks for your heart—that's it! He knows we can't be "good enough." He accepts us as we are—torn, tattered and broken. Really.

Now Appearing: Cure Today Online Magazine

I'm happy to announce that I am a new contributor at Cure Today online magazine. Catch my debut article Being Passionate About Health Saved My Life. You may learn a bit more about me you didn't already know.

As you might guess, I provide a different approach than most contributors to the site, who offer stories of survival while undergoing the conventional treatment of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Take a look around and read a few other posts.

Look for future articles at Cure Today that provide motivation and support for a different approach to cancer. Something you (my faithful readers) would expect from me.

Note: If you haven't gotten to see The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest 9-part video series, you would have missed my interview in Episode 9. You'll hear me speak to being an example of epigenetics. Look for epigenetics to be the subject of a future post. Some viewers of the series wrote me and expressed a hope for their genetic cancer condition after watching me.

What would you like to see me address in this blog or at Cure Today?

Redesigned Carrot Cupcakes Recipe

This is the second Carrot Cupcake recipe I've created. I decided the first recipe could be easier and, yes, even yummier. So I set about to make a newer, better recipe. Motivated by the upcoming celebration of our son's marriage to his college sweetheart, I spent the week before the event (dubbed the I Do BBQ) planning, shopping and making the dishes and dessert.

Our son Nur and his college sweetheart Annaliese met over 11 years ago. Nur participated in the Anime club on campus and met Annaliese there. Smitten from their first meeting, Nur spent much of the years winning her over—a true romantic tale. Both being minimalists and creatures of habit, they seem made for each other, highlighted by their love of Anime and annual vacation to Comic-Con in San Diego. The two lovebirds married in a private ceremony at San Francisco City Hall (a beautiful and cheap venue) on June 19th. The I Do BBQ allowed the extended family to meet Annaliese and share their well-wishes with the newlyweds.

Run the carrots through your juicer and add the filtered water. Add coconut oil, honey and eggs to a medium-size bowl and mix thoroughly then add to the carrots.

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. I used quinoa flour and buckwheat flour, but you can choose any flours you want—make it gluten-free or add 2 cups of one type of flour. Your choice.

Add the carrot mixture to the flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Add the vanilla, lemon juice, walnuts (optional if you like) and raisons. Add a bit of water if the mixture is too dry. Batter should be wet enough to easily scoop into cupcake papers. Sprinkle with some natural sugar and bake.

Viola! The buckwheat flour made these cupcakes look like chocolate cupcakes. I certainly fooled a few when they bit into the delicious cake. The crowd loved em!

Carrot Cupcakes ReDesigned

yield 16 cupcakes

category Dessert
cuisine Vegetarian, no sugar

ingredients
3 carrots
1/2 C filtered water
2/3 C coconut oil, melted
2/3 C raw honey
2 eggs
1 C buckwheat flour
1 C quinoa flour
1 C rolled oats
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 C chopped wlanuts
1/2 C raisons
1-2 Tbsp coconut sugar or sucanate

directions
1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. Run carrots through a juicer and use juice and pulp. Add water to carrots and pulp.
3. In medium bowl, mix together oil, honey and eggs. Add to carrot mixture.
4. In separate bowl, mix flours, oats, cinnamon, baking soda and salt.
5. Add carrot mixture to dry ingredients and mix well. Add vanilla, lemon juice, walnuts and raisons. Combine.
6. Scoop mixture into cupcake papers in a muffin tin. Fill to just below the top. Sprinkle coconut sugar or sucanate on top of each cupcake.
7. Bake for 20 minutes. Test with toothpick.

I elected to add some fun and decorative frosting to the cupcakes. A search for vegan cream cheese frosting yielded this perfect and easy recipe. If you want to do something similar on top of your cupcakes, take a sandwich bag and cut a teeny, tiny triangle off one bottom corner of the bag. Scoop in the frosting then squeeze from the top of the bag (this can be messy) until the frosting comes out of the hole. Decorate away!

What's your idea of a good cupcake recipe?

The Truth About Cancer

Powerful! is the word to describe the first episode of the 9-part doc-series The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest. I hope you're seeing this!

Ty covers the history of chemotherapy and how the pharmaceutical companies have hijacked our health system turning it into a disease system that heavily promotes the sale of drugs and pads their bottom line. You will be shocked by what he found in his quest across the globe. Ty talked to health practitioners who are healing people from cancer, but at risk of losing their license because they are not using the accepted treatment of chemotherapy and radiation.

My father died at 63 of Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. That was 28 years ago. He lived 4 years with the disease refusing to do chemotherapy, but rather sought more natural means to heal his body.

My life-long healthy lifestyle is home grown. Dad encouraged eating healthy, took supplements, and read Adelle Davis and other early healthy eating champions like Jethro Kloss of Back to Eden. My mother cooked meals from scratch and shunned white bread and TV dinners which came into vogue in the 50's. We also had raw milk delivered to the door each week along with bottled water. Dad also stressed exercise. My most prized possession as a young girl was a 3-speed bicycle.

When faced with cancer, it was dad's drive to be healthy that kept him alive for so long. He used food and alternative therapies like acupuncture in an effort to heal his cancer.

Eventually he put his fate into the hands of the medical system which immediately put him on chemotherapy. Six months later he was dead. The oncologist admitted my dad kept himself alive for many years longer than expected by the treatments he did, although he (the oncologist) did not understand how.

Sad that many doctors today still have no clue how to heal cancer. Instead they administer drugs and radiation that cause more cancer and keep the industry making money at the expense of a bankrupt healthcare system. Really we've lost the war on cancer. Meanwhile there is a different war—against those who practice non-harmful ways to heal cancer.

Please educate yourself about the dangers and insidious foundation of our current treatment for cancer. The only way we can turn the tide is to get people educated. You still have time to register and view the videos for The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest.

And if you know someone who is facing cancer, please send them a link to my post I Have Cancer—6 Tips.

Mexican Salad with Coriander & Macadamias

A dear friend made this salad for dinner during a stay with them in Costa Mesa, California recently. This was one of three raw salads that was our dinner. Yum! This girl leapt for joy! We planned on hiking the beach from Corona del Mar to Crystal Cove at low tide in the morning.

We traversed rocky terrain, scaled big rocks and even crawled through a hole in one spot to continue forward on our trek. Had we embarked any later, the rising tide would forbid our passage.

Absent any other people, we enjoyed our shore stroll until the last rock scramble brought us to a wide, flat beach where other explorers romped in the bright sun. We reached Crystal Cove just in time to get on the lengthy wait list for lunch at the popular Beachcomber Cafe.

I ordered the delicious Ahi Tuna Salad: sesame crusted Ahi, mixed greens, avocado, mango and radish with passion fruit vinaigrette.

Look What I Discovered on My Way to the Juice Bar

I'm all about healthy foods that are closest to the real thing. That is, fresh from farm to fork with little stops in between. But now and then we need a little help from our friends who are dedicated to creating foods that contain healthy ingredients, nothing artificial, no or little sugar and are minimally processed.

The other day I stopped by our local Nugget Market for a fresh juice and passed a very animated, energetic and inviting food vendor. "Start your day with love," said Maddy holding up a sample cup filled with strawberry-colored O's. I whooshed by to order my juice, but returned to chat while sipping my yummy nectar of vegetables (kale and spinach) with grapefruit, lemon and apple.

"They're made with beans—navy beans, lentils and garbanzo beans." Now that's a wallop of good stuff that will stick to your bones. Maddy went over the ingredients and talked about Home Grown Foods the company behind the healthy breakfast cereal. Home Grown Foods' mission statement ...
"... is to create incredibly delicious foods that are full of nutritional benefits and that are available to everyone, while educating kids, parents, and teachers on the importance of eating healthy."
That fits with my philosophy. Check out their products page—you should find something your family might like. Most of their products are gluten-free and all are certified non-GMO ingredients by the Non-GMO Project.

The only gripe I have is that some products are over 10 grams of sugar and that's too much IMHO. We've created generations that are addicted to sugar. Let's give them the flavor of real food instead.

What healthy food product do you use in a pinch that is manufactured/processed?

Attitude: Vacation Revisited

Probably the most enjoyed vacation we've taken lately was back in 2011 when we toured the Southwest National Parks and surrounding sights with friends. I thought you might like to revisit the trip or perhaps you're seeing the post for the first time. You may discover some places you'd like to visit with your family. Come on... let's go!

Places To Go ~ Things We Saw
Starting with Zion National Park in Southwest Utah, the neat and upscale town of Springdale invites travelers to the entrance of this majestic, wow-factor, geologic wonder—my favorite park on the trip. A convenient shuttle runs through town and delivers you to the park entrance and visitor center. Boarding a double shuttle, we could disembark at any stop in the park.

Our first morning, we chose to hike the Watchman Trail. We made our way up a short canyon passing colorful displays of wildflowers to an overlook with a panoramic view of the valley below and the Watchman Peak standing at Zion's entrance.
From Zion, we drove to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We took a walk out to Bright Angel Point, the Southern-most point of the Kaibab Plateau, a short walk from the lodge. As soon as I came along side the railing with a 3,000+ drop, my legs went wobbly, I started sweating, my gut began to churn and I could not look out at the expansive scene. Yes, I have a fear of heights.
Fear of heights did not keep me from hiking down the Kaibab Trail into the canyon one morning. Unfortunately, we hiked behind the morning mule train to the Supai Tunnel.
Yes... we skirted a river of mule pee. Sheesh... what a ghastly, strong smell. My husband remarked that it smelled like strong cat pee, except cats pee ounces and mules pee gallons. Of course, there was also the mounds of poop to avoid.
The views were all worth the bother of a bit of animal excrement.
Next stop, Antelope Canyon adjacent to Lake Powell in north Arizona in the Navajo Nation. This was my "had to see before I die" (aka Bucket List item) spot. It's the most photographed location in the Southwest. Can you see why?
This amazing slot canyon was discovered in the 70's by a Navajo girl tending her sheep. At many points in the canyon we had to walk toe-to-heel and maneuver our bodies to fit through.
It's the weirdest experience. The Navajo guide led us to a crack in the earth and started walking into it until he disappeared.
We encountered a series of metal stairs that led us deeper into the canyon. More stairs exist along the tour, some no wider than the width of my foot.
We visited Bryce Canyon National Park next. Unlike Zion, Bryce is not really a canyon, but rather a bowl containing eroded sandstone formations of reddish to white color.
Also, unlike Zion, the road through the park is outside the geologic area of interest. Park roads provide access to viewing spots where you can see the bowl or amphitheater of formations.
Sego Lily at Kodachrome Basin
We also visited Kodachrome Basin State Park, a short drive down the most scenic highway in the US—Highway 12. We drove as far as Boulder on Hwy 12 and discovered Hell's Backbone Grill. Boulder, population 180, is said to be one of the most remote towns in the US, so finding this gem in the middle of nowhere was kismet. They prepared a dish just for me to accommodate my diet. Check out the cookbook the proprietor/chefs authored, which highlights their creations.
"Kitchen" in our cabin at North Rim Grand Canyon
Food On The Trip
Speaking of my diet, we planned carefully for this trip to ensure I would have food to eat. We bought a Koolatron 26-quart electric cooler complete with plug for the car and added a 110AC adapter for power in the hotel/cabin. The cooler is very quiet and very effective. I packed a container with a pre-made veggie salad (it lasts three days). I brought beans and feta cheese to make my daily lunch salad—yum. Added the whole veggies stored in green bags (see Keep Your Vegetables and Fruit Fresher Longer) to the cooler and away we went.

I cut more veggies when needed and expected to add some from locations on the road (a risky assumption). Turns out the veggies lasted the whole trip. Used the last carrot on the last night during the return trip home.

We brought Trader Joe's Organic Instant Oatmeal for breakfast and added a handful of the organic/raw trail mix I made for the trip. Also brought along our Proctor Silex water boiler (it's awesome), coffee press and Mighty Leaf loose tea that Bob used to make green tea every morning.

Friends on the trip with us marveled at how self-contained we were.

We had healthy food options everywhere except at Bryce. In that location the Syrett family "own" the area outside the entrance to Bryce Canyon. It consists of lodging, campgrounds, services, one restaurant with huge buffet (gag me!) and one fast-food place. Everything is institutionalized. Order a pancake and you got butter and syrup in little sealed containers. They had almost nothing for me to eat, but I got by with a potato, carrot, zucchini, onion and sun-dried tomato stir fry they prepared for me. It was tasty, but overcooked for my liking. I also took my chances with a veggie burger they had. I used a piece of whole grain bread that we bought in Bishop at Schat's Bakkery to replace the white bun it came on.
Globemallow
We enjoyed every minute of the trip. Colorful wildflowers gracing the landscape, singing birds, rich colors of rock rising to the heavens and breathtaking scenery stretching to the horizon.

With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the
animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please. ~Jeremiah 27:5

It's really hard to come back. I especially enjoyed being unplugged. For a serious recharge, I recommend a clean break from the noise of email, phone, blogs, twitter, etc. It feels great!

When was the last time you unplugged? And for how long did you unplug? Scroll down and leave a comment below.
